Chiefs Shut Out Generals, Edwards Winner
Sunday, July 20th, 2036
In an outstanding mound performance, Caldwell Chiefs starter Roger Edwards fired a complete-game shutout against the Washington Generals at Washington Park today.
Edwards was the key to the Chiefs's 4-0 win. The 21-year-old right-hander was in high spirits on the mount for much of the game, his mood largely undented by the 3 hits and 2 walks he allowed.
"3 hits?" he said with a laugh following the game. "Listen, I'd be happy with a 30-hitter as long as it was a shutout."
This year Edwards has a 11-2 mark in 14 starts with a 1.37 ERA. He has given up 53 hits in 98.1 innings, struck out 117 and issued 21 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .154 batting average against him.
