Oaks Down Rainbow Mermaids, 4-2

The Oakland Oaks got a stellar effort from pitcher Elroy Quaid, helping Oakland score a 4-2 win over the visiting Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids. Quaid went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 4. His record improves to 3-0. Oakland occupies third place in the Silver League at 42-30.
The Rainbow Mermaids had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Oaks going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 27-year old catcher Colin O'Connell came to the plate. O'Connell hit a 2-run double on a 2-1 fastball from Northern Virginia hurler Maru Pao Pao. It was O'Connell's 9th double of the year.
"I liked his command," said Oakland manager DAshley GoAs. "Elroy was throwing strikes."
