1837 BBC Jolt Northern Lions BC with Late Rally
|
The Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC got a sterling performance from pitcher Rich Choquette, but the 1837 BBC still prevailed, 4-3. Choquette was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 6 innings of 1-hit ball. Houston starter Miguel Rubia was credited with the win after throwing 89 pitches over 8 innings. His record now stands at 4-5. The Northern Lions BC have now dropped 6 straight.
One important at-bat came with a runner on 1st in the bottom of the eighth inning. Facing Thunder Bay hurler Anatoly Ivanovich, Krystof Melichar, who is tied for 6th in the SL in doubles with 16, hit a double. The 1837 BBC went on to win.
"It's good to win," Melichar told the Houston Times. "I like to have fun doing it."
