Almost There: Boston On Cusp of R1 Triumph After 4-3 Win
The Boston Patriots went into extra innings against the Charleston Battery but ultimately moved to within one game of the Round 2 today.

The Patriots downed the Battery at Charleston Armory by a score of 4-3. Even as his squad took the loss, Charleston right-hander Tony Alfonso was named player of the game for a solid outing in which he threw 6 innings of 5-hit ball. The win gives the Patriots a - advantage in the best-of- United States Premier League Championship.

Boston used the timely hitting of Roland Deschain to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Patriots on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"We played a good game and came out on top," said Deschain.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow in Charleston. Slated to start are Jaganmani Vivek for the Boston Patriots and Aldo Raine for the the Charleston Battery.
