Almost There: Phoenix On Cusp of R2037 Triumph After 7-3 Win
|
Game was big. So was Leon von Stroheim.
The Phoenix starter rose to the occasion at The Voodoo Lounge today, earning player of the game honors after leading the Hotspur to a crucial 7-3 victory over the New Orleans Voodoo. von Stroheim threw 6 innings allowing 3 runs as the Hotspur won on the road to seize a - lead in the best-of- Round 2037.
Phoenix used the bat of Harumi Takaki to get the win. The designated hitter hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Hotspur ahead, 7-3. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," von Stroheim said after the game.
The next game is scheduled for Thursday, October 2nd, 2036 in Phoenix. Slated to start are Ted Chong for the New Orleans Voodoo and José Quiñones for the the Phoenix Hotspur.
