Home Field Advantage: Uribe, Akron Open SL AA Championship with Win
|
When he got to Akron, Ignacio Uribe was just worrying about staying on the roster. Today, he was starring in the SL AA Championship.
The 22-year-old rookie right-hander shut out the visiting Virginia Palladium Sox 5-0 in a remarkable performance at Goodyear Hanger Dome today. With the win, the Blimps took a 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 SL AA Championship.
In his 103-pitch effort, Uribe allowed no earned runs on 3 hits over 7.1 innings. He walked 2 and struck out 6.
"Ignacio was throwing free and easy," said Akron manager Emílio Sáenz.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Goodyear Hanger Dome. The scheduled starters for the game are Kevin Maughan for Virginia and Tim Walker for Akron.
