Mercer Island Win Evens Series at 2
|
The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles and the San Bernardino Grasshoppers will take the PL AA Championship to a decisive 5th game. In a must-win situation today, the Screaming Eagles beat the Grasshoppers 3-1 at Field of the Grasshoppers to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Mercer Island right-hander Raimo Kangas was named player of the game in the win after he threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball.
Mercer Island used the timely hitting of Asbel Kiprop to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Screaming Eagles on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We put together a nice win," Kiprop said.
Game 5 is scheduled for Saturday, September 27th, 2036 at Mercer Island Grounds. The scheduled starters for the game are John Núñes for the San Bernardino Grasshoppers and Aldo Ottens for the the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles.
