Road Win Lifts San Bernardino to 1-0 Lead in R1
|
With catcher Tome Uso leading the charge, the San Bernardino Grasshoppers got a road win over the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles, 3-2, in Game 1 of the PL AA Championship today. Uso went 2-2 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once at Mercer Island Grounds to help San Bernardino take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series.
The game was all tied up in the top of the ninth, until Uso delivered big-time for San Bernardino, stroking a dramatic solo home run off Wilson Rangel. The game-changing hit put the Grasshoppers on top, 3-2.
"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Uso.
Game 2 is scheduled for tomorrow at Mercer Island Grounds. Slated to start are Jordan Guérin for the San Bernardino Grasshoppers and James Lendell Basford for the the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles.
