Road Win Lifts Texas to 2-1 Lead in R1
The Texas Bronze Sox went into extra innings against the Alaskan Humpbacks but ultimately moved to within one game of the Round 2 today. The Bronze Sox downed the Humpbacks at Sea World by a score of 6-4. Texas right-hander Miguel Cervantes was named player of the game after a solid outing in which he came in in relief and pitched to 16 batters . The win gives the Bronze Sox a 2-1 advantage in the best-of-5 SL AAA Championship.

The game was at a stalemate until right fielder Jeff Reed came to bat in the top of the 12th. Facing Alaskan pitcher Hervé Favier, he hit a 1-2 curveball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Texas on top, 5-4.

"This was a good win for us," said Reed. "It's one more step toward our ultimate goal."

Game 4 is set to be played tomorrow in Eugene. Slated to start are Tony Torres for the Texas Bronze Sox and Raneem Zogby for the the Alaskan Humpbacks.
