Otters Clip Flanderses 4-3 in R1 Contest
|
The Tulsa Otters and the Hudsonville Flanderses will take the SL R Championship to a decisive 5th game. In a must-win situation today, the Otters beat the Flanderses 4-3 at Field of the Toros to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Tulsa second baseman Alfredo Valdéz was named player of the game in the win after he went 4-4 with 4 singles.
Tulsa used the timely hitting of Júlio Abarco to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put the Otters on top, 4-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It was a good day but I'm not letting my guard down," Abarco said. "I'll let my guard down as soon as someone puts a big, fat championship ring on my finger."
Game 5 is scheduled for Sunday, September 14th, 2036 at Ballpark of Hughesville. Slated to start are Gerard Tremwade for the Hudsonville Flanderses and Mario Quintero for the the Tulsa Otters.
