Tulsa Breaks Through for First Win in SL R Championship; Now Trails 2-1
|
The Tulsa Otters have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Hudsonville Flanderses, winning 5-3 at Field of the Toros today. Otters right-hander Dave Raspberry was named player of the game after he threw 7 innings allowing 2 runs. The win cuts the deficit facing the Otters to 2-1 in the best-of-5 SL R Championship.
The game was on the line with two out in the bottom of the ninth inning, but Ramiro Valdés didn't flinch. With runners on 1st and 2nd and Hudsonville trailing 5-3, Valdés retired Teng Xuefeng to end the threat. "Nothing to it," said Valdés, with a wink.
Game 4 is set to be played tomorrow. The scheduled starters for the game are Edwin Meadows for Tulsa and Alan Haas for Hudsonville.
