Road Win Lifts Hudsonville to 2-0 Lead in R1
|
The Hudsonville Flanderses moved to within one game of the Round 2 today, downing the Tulsa Otters on the road at Ballpark of Hughesville by a score of 5-1. Flanderses left-hander António Morterero was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 6 innings of 5-hit ball. The win gives the Flanderses a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-5 SL R Championship.
Hudsonville used the timely hitting of Olkhovsky Gennadiyevich to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the second inning to put the Flanderses on top, 1-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Being able to play a game for a living is one thing. Being able to play it well and contribute to a win is even better," Gennadiyevich told the Hudsonville Citizen.
Game 3 is scheduled for Thursday at Field of the Toros. Slated to start are Dave Raspberry for the Tulsa Otters and Modeste Azagba for the the Hudsonville Flanderses.
