Ducks Win, Move to Within 1 Game of Round 2
|
The Long Island Ducks moved to within one game of the Round 2 today, downing the visiting Ladue Rams at Ducks Park by a score of 3-1. Ducks right-hander Emilio Zatori was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 6 innings of 3-hit ball. The win gives the Ducks a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-5 PL R Championchip.
Derek Kelly hit a 2-run double off Rubén Medina in the bottom of the eighth, which put the Ducks in front, 3-1. In addition to the double, Kelly had 1 single, while going 2 for 4.
"We haven't stopped playing," Ladue manager Henry Henderson said. "We didn't get this far to give up."
Game 3 is scheduled for Thursday at Ballpark of Wellsville. The scheduled starters for the game are Govaart van Ankeren for the Long Island Ducks and Juan Colón for the the Ladue Rams.
