Almost There: New Orleans On Cusp of R1 Triumph After 7-2 Win
Game was big. So was Eric Matson.

The New Orleans starter rose to the occasion at Nashville Stadium today, earning player of the game honors after leading the Voodoo to a crucial 7-2 victory over the Nashville Outlaws. Matson threw 7 innings of 6-hit ball as the Voodoo won on the road to seize a - lead in the best-of- Round 1.

A crucial at-bat came with runners on 1st and 2nd and one out in the top of the fourth inning. That's when shortstop Colm Goodwill got hit by a pitch. The Voodoo went on to win.

Matson attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
