Pivotal Game Goes to Host Stingers, 3-2
|
The Toledo Stingers faced a challenging opponent in New Orleans Voodoo right-hander Grover Lowdermilk, but did just enough to squeak out a 3-2 win in Game of the Silver League Championship today. Toledo now leads - in the best-of- series. The Stingers won despite the Voodoo getting an excellent start from starter Lowdermilk, who allowed 2 earned runs at scattered 5 hits over 8 innings.
The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Dylan Carson came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing New Orleans pitcher Grover Lowdermilk, he hit a first pitch fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Toledo on top, 3-2.
"Feels good to get the job done," Carson said after the game.
