The Boston Patriots got a great start from 35-year-old right-hander Aurelio López, who earned player of the game honors today as Boston took the 5-2 win at Athletics Park over the series-leading Athletic Club KC. López threw 5 innings allowing 2 runs and helped Boston close their deficit to games to in the best-of- series.
It could have been a different outcome for Boston, had it not been for Manuel Carmona, the 11-year veteran . Carmona contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the third inning to put Boston up, 1-0.
"We don't have much margin for error now," Athletic Club KC manager Andy Mayfield said. "We need to figure out the problem and fix it, immediately."
