Houston got a terrific game from catcher Phil Sherman. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Chicago, 4-2. Sherman was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He hit 2 home runs. Chicago is now 39-18, 6½ games up in the Silver League.
Chicago used the timely hitting of Ashley Thachi to capture the win. The third baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Silver Sox ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was an important one.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Thachi, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
