Close Win Moves Northern Lions BC to 30-26
|
The Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC did just enough to secure a 5-4 victory over the Mississippi Mockingbirds at Great Northern Field. Nobody did more than shortstop Ramón Padilla, who captured player of the game honors. Jon Briddon earned the win for Thunder Bay. He lasted 6 innings, allowing 4 earned runs on 9 hits, while striking out 4. With the win, he raised his record to 1-4. Picking up the save was Ramón Martínez, his 1st.
Joe Aller broke a 4-4 tie in the bottom of the sixth with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It put the Northern Lions BC in front, 5-4. For the game, Aller went 1 for 3.
In postgame comments to the Thunder Bay News, Padilla said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
With the victory, the Northern Lions BC record now stands at 30-26.
