Elephants Turn Back Warheads, 5-3
|
The Gibtown Elephants topped the Amarillo Warheads, 5-3, in M3L Rookie action at Wrigley Field. The player of the game was Gibtown pitcher Ernest Pollock. Pollock picked up the win for Gibtown, going 7 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 2-2. The Elephants bumped their record to 58-34 with this latest triumph.
The Warheads had been locked in a 3-3 tie with the Elephants going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 19-year old first baseman Jeff McNeice came to the plate. McNeice hit a run-scoring double on a 1-1 fastball from Amarillo hurler Jhon Aimar. It was McNeice's 6th double of the year.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said McNeice.
