Elephants Clip Hounds in Tight Contest
|
The Gibtown Elephants overcame a good performance by Hicksville left fielder Mike Branch to knock off Hicksville, 6-5, at Wrigley Field. Branch was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Gibtown reliever Adri van Huizen picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Rodrigo Durán absorbed the loss. Gibtown is now 51-30, while Hicksville is 50-31.
The game came to an abrupt end with one out in the bottom of the ninth. On a pitch from Alberto Cruz, Omar Wingo drew a walk, driving in 1 run. It gave Gibtown the 6-5 walk-off win.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Gibtown manager Philippe Parmentier.
