Submarinos Topple Biscuits with Late Rally
|
The Montgomery Biscuits got a superb performance from pitcher Ainanani Iosepa. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Amarillo. The Submarinos won the game, 2-1. In spite of the loss, Iosepa was named the player of the game. He threw 7 innings of 5-hit ball. Amarillo reliever Jesús Bruno picked up the win to move to 4-3. Ainanani Iosepa suffered the loss. Montgomery, at 25-70, has lost 11 straight.
Had Cristóbal Arteaga not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Arteaga hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Submarinos.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Amarillo manager Kenny Billings said.
