The Long Island Ducks grabbed a 9-5 win over the Ogallala Octopi at Nebraska Aquarium. Long Island second baseman Vesa Karpinen was 3-4 with 2 doubles and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once to earn player of the game honors. Long Island reliever Moises Casabuena was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Carlos Menéndez. Long Island improves to 69-13 with the win. They lead their division by 12 games.

Long Island used the timely hitting of Slavik Akentiev to capture the win. The shortstop stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Ducks on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.

"We came out aggressive," said Ducks manager Luis Díaz. "We came out swinging the bats."
