The Buckhead Bowties got a sterling performance from pitcher Rhys Maskell, but the BC still prevailed, 6-1. Maskell was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball. Reliever Kenji Aoki picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Ming-jiang Wu took the loss. The BC, with just their 5th win so far in 2036, have yet to catch fire.
The Bowties had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the BC going into the top of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 28-year old first baseman Karl Blanke came to the plate. Blanke hit a run-scoring single on a 1-2 knuckleball from Buckhead hurler Rhys Maskell. It was Blanke's 19th hit of the year.
"It was a solid team effort," said Blanke after the game.
