Wiggins Excels, But Hounds Win
|
Greenport third baseman Josh Wiggins had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 9-6, to Hicksville at Hound Pound. Wiggins went 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Trevor Bowden earned the win for Hicksville. He lasted 5.2 innings, allowing 1 earned run on 6 hits, while striking out 6. With the win, he raised his record to 7-5. Luis Reyes earned the save for Hicksville, his 13th.
Adam Castro put Hicksville in front, 4-1, when he hit a 2-run home run off Javier Soto in the bottom of the fourth. It was his 2nd home run of the season.
"We're stringing together some nice wins," said Hicksville manager Wilber Moon.
The third-place Hounds have won 10 in a row.
