Warheads Fall Short at Sheridan
|
The Sheridan Deer eked out a 3-2 win versus the Amarillo Warheads at Sheridan Forest. Nobody did more than pitcher Luis Castro, who captured player of the game honors. The Deer now have a mark of 24-21.
In the bottom of the ninth, with two out and the game tied, 2-2, right fielder Armando Ventura won it for Sheridan. With a runner on 2nd, Ventura hit a 1-2 fastball from Lorenzo Carregosa for a run-scoring single, giving his team a 3-2 win.
Castro said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
