Hounds Stick Hotspur Academy with 7-6 Loss
|
Phoenix left fielder Nate Edwards had a good game, even if his team did not. The Hotspur Academy dropped a 7-6 decision to Hicksville at Ballpark of Fresno. Edwards went 3 for 5 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The win was credited to Jesús Gutiérrez in relief. His record improves to 1-1. António Sánchez took the loss. Rodrigo Durán earned the save, his 2nd, for the Hounds.
Hicksville used the timely hitting of Nihad Boja to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Hounds on top, 7-5. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Hicksville manager Wilber Moon.
With the win, the Hounds improved to 26-16.
