Hotspur Academy Clip Elephants, 5-4
|
The Phoenix Hotspur Academy did just enough to sneak past the Gibtown Elephants, 5-4, at Ballpark of Fresno. Phoenix pitcher Teika Suto earned player of the game honors. Jeff Cook earned his 3rd save in 6 tries. The 7th-place Hotspur Academy raised their record to 19-18.
Had Bernardo Pacheco not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Pacheco hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Hotspur Academy.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Suto told the Phoenix Times.
