Baby Lakers Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Deer
|
The Bompton Baby Lakers topped the Sheridan Deer, 9-8, with youngster Ben Bullock playing a key role. Bullock was 4 for 5 with a triple and 3 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Baby Lakers in the win. Reliever Yong-jun Yi picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Ludovic Laurent took the loss. Bompton has run its win streak to 4 in a row.
In the bottom of the ninth, with no one out and the game tied, 8-8, pinch hitter Tadayuki Ito won it for Bompton. With the bases loaded, Ito hit a 1-2 fastball from Alfredo Guerrero for a run-scoring single, giving his team a 9-8 win.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Sheridan manager Scott Alexander. "But we decided not to take it."
