Toledo got a first-rate effort from pitcher Ángel Silva, who frustrated Northern Virginia hitters en route to a 3-1 Stingers triumph at Pacesetter Park. Silva went 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 2, and struck out 5. His record improves to 1-0. Toledo is now riding a 3-game win streak.

The Stingers got a big at-bat from right fielder Alfredo Martínez. For the game, Martínez was 1-3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 4th home run of the season gave Toledo a 2-0 lead.

"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Silva.
