Warheads Continue Hot Start to Season With Win
|
Amarillo starter Alberto López pitched effectively against the Phoenix Hotspur Academy at Ballpark of Fresno. The right-hander led his team to a 1-0 win. López, now 3-0, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing no earned runs. Charlie Bottari locked down his 5th save.
Amarillo used the timely hitting of Cristián Bustillo to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put the Warheads on top, 1-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"If we keep winning the close games," López said, "we'll be in good shape at the end."
Amarillo, now 15-4, is setting the league on fire so far.
