Elephants Come Up Short at Germantown
|
The Germantown Uruguayans topped the Gibtown Elephants by the score of 3-2, with the largest share of the credit going to third baseman Bras Castanheta. Castanheta went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Uruguayans. Okura Yamasaki picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-0. Michael White was tagged with the loss. The Uruguayans are off to an underwhelming start as they look to defend their championship, notching only their 6th win in 14 games.
Castanheta had an important at-bat with the bases empty in the bottom of the seventh, when he hit a solo home run. The Uruguayans went on to win.
"It was a solid team effort," said Castanheta after the game.
