Big Day by Sims Sparks Hounds Win
|
The Hicksville Hounds topped the Germantown Uruguayans, 7-3, with third baseman Bob Sims playing a big role. Sims went 3-4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Hounds in the win. Glenn Underwood was the winning pitcher. Over 5 innings, he allowed 1 run on 4 hits, with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts. The win gives the Hounds a record of 7-5.
Hicksville took a 5-0 lead on Sims's 2nd home run of the season. The grand slam home run, which he hit off Narahiko Sanu in the top of the sixth, propelled Hicksville to the win.
"We'll savor this win," Sims told the Hicksville Daily, "then get ready for the next game."
