Warheads Rally to Eke Out Win
The Amarillo Warheads did just enough to secure a 6-5 victory over the Gibtown Elephants at Wrigley Field. Nobody did more than catcher Taysir bin Mahmud, who captured player of the game honors. The win was credited to Peter Kossan in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Ernest Pollock took the loss. Amarillo, at 10-1, is off to a blistering start.

Amarillo used the timely hitting of Lonnie Doble to capture the win. The second baseman socked a run-scoring double in the top of the 12th inning to put the Warheads ahead, 6-5. It was his only hit in 6 at-bats, but it was an important one.

"Winning is the only thing that really matters," bin Mahmud told the Amarillo Daily News. "If you can win without even breaking a sweat, more power to you."
