Late Rally by Warheads Secures Win
|
The Redwood Rhinos got a superb performance from pitcher Tim Owens. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Amarillo. The Warheads won the game, 5-3. In spite of the loss, Owens was named the player of the game. He threw 7 innings allowing 2 runs. Charlie Bottari recorded the save for Amarillo, his 2nd of the season. The Warheads, now 7-1, have played some good baseball in the early going.
The result might have been different for Amarillo, had it not been for Lorenzo Ortíz. The left fielder produced a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Warheads ahead, 4-3. For the game, Ortíz had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"I believe in our guys," said Amarillo skipper Javier Trujillo. "I like the energy they're playing with."
