Baby Lakers Topple Elephants with Late Rally
|
The Gibtown Elephants got a superb performance from pitcher Jonathan Lentz, but the Bompton Baby Lakers still won the game, 5-3. Lentz was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 5 innings allowing 3 runs. Bompton reliever Tadayuki Ito was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Pepe Rodríguez. Losses have been few and far between for the Elephants, who are now 7-1.
Bompton used the clutch hitting of Vicente Colón to capture the win. The third baseman drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Baby Lakers ahead, 5-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Colón told the Bompton Bulletin.
