Warheads Pull Off Thrilling Win in Extras
|
The Amarillo Warheads stopped the Redwood Rhinos, 4-3, at The Zoo. The Warheads got a big game from Taysir bin Mahmud, who was 3 for 7 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Amarillo reliever Freddy Calcines picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Jesús Nasario was saddled with the loss. Amarillo is now 6-1.
Amarillo used the clutch hitting of Lorenzo Ortíz to capture the win. The center fielder drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the 15th inning to give the Warheads the lead, 4-3. For the game, Ortíz had 1 single and 1 double in 7 at-bats.
In postgame comments, bin Mahmud told the Amarillo Daily News: "Do people still doubt I give 100 percent?"
