Uruguayans Need Extra Frames to Get Past Hotspur Academy
|
The Germantown Uruguayans defeated the Phoenix Hotspur Academy, 11-10, at Ballpark of Fresno. Germantown right fielder Obke Preesman was named player of the game for his superb performance. He was 4-6 with a home run, 3 singles, and 2 walks, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 3. The Uruguayans are off to an underwhelming start as they look to defend their championship, notching only their 2nd win in 5 games.
Troy Clark had the most critical at-bat for Germantown. With one in the top of the 15th inning, Clark hit a 1-1 fastball from Bob Robertson for a run-scoring single. It put Germantown in front, 11-10.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Phoenix manager Dexter Shannon. "But we decided not to take it."
