Uruguayans Beat Warheads, 7-2
|
The Amarillo Warheads got a superb performance from pitcher Ryan Robertson. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Germantown. The Uruguayans won the game, 7-2. In spite of the loss, Robertson was named the player of the game. He came in in relief and pitched to 17 batters . Armando Álvarez was the winning pitcher. Over 5.1 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 5 hits, with 2 walks and 9 strikeouts. The Uruguayans are off to an underwhelming start as they look to defend their championship, notching only their 1st win in 3 games.
Adam Wiltern dealt the Warheads a blow in the top of the second. Batting with the bases loaded and Germantown leading 4-0, Wiltern, who is rated as the 83rd best prospect by BNN, hit a 2-0 fastball for a bases-clearing double.
"Good to get a win," said Wiltern, "but it's a long season."
