|
Oakland starter Jeff Mahl had a strong outing against the Nashville Outlaws at Nashville Stadium. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 4-1 win. Mahl went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 6. His record improves to 2-3. Júlio Rodríguez recorded the save for Oakland, his 9th of the season.
The outcome might have been different for Oakland, had it not been for Luis Luquín, the slick-fielding third baseman . Luquín stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the first inning to put Oakland up, 1-0. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
"The fans pay the tickets and help us do what we do, so we like to put on a show for them," Mahl told the Oakland Times.
The Outlaws, now 11-23, have lost 5 straight.
