The Toledo Stingers got a sterling performance from pitcher Tupac Blanch, but the Northern Lions BC still prevailed, 3-2. Blanch was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 8 innings of 5-hit ball. Anatoly Ivanovich got credit for the win, improving to 3-1. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3 innings. Thunder Bay has now won 3 in a row.
Late-game drama came in the top of the ninth inning. With no one out and the bases empty, the batter, Ramón Padilla, hit a single. It helped Thunder Bay seize the win.
After the game, Thunder Bay manager Scott Williams applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
