Submarinos Score Late, Upend Beavers, 5-4
|
The Amarillo Submarinos scored a 5-4 win versus the Ballard Beavers at Terriers Ballpark. Amarillo right fielder Cristóbal Arteaga nabbed top player honors in the tight contest. Amarillo reliever Danny Stam picked up the win to move to 3-0. Jaime Rúbio suffered the loss. Amarillo, at 20-21, occupies 5th place in the Silver R.
Arteaga had a game-changing triple in the bottom of the ninth. On a 0-1 changeup from Jaime Rúbio, he banged a run-scoring triple to right, giving the Submarinos a 5-4 lead. It was the 2nd triple of the year for Arteaga.
"I was a little disappointed," said Ballard manager Leonardo Sánchez. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
