Beavers Score Late, Stun Biscuits, 6-2
|
The Northwest Territory Beavers topped the Montgomery Biscuits, 6-2, in USSL Rookie action at Montgomery Riverwalk Stadium. The player of the game was Northwest Territory pitcher Jeff McDermott. The win was Luca Boccasino's in relief. His record improves to 1-2. Steve Perkins took the loss for Montgomery. Northwest Territory currently is in 6th place in the Silver R at 11-10.
In the top of the 8th, second baseman Chris Thompson gave Northwest Territory the lead when he hit a 2-run single. The Beavers had been trailing 2-1, but the two-out single off Montgomery pitcher Steve Perkins changed that -- and Northwest Territory went on to win.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Thompson, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
