Beavers Deal Tigers 6-2 Setback
|
Twinsburg got a terrific performance from pitcher Buzzy Grossman, but it wasn't enough to beat the Ballard Beavers. Ballard won the Dodge Field contest, 6-2. Grossman was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 6 innings of 5-hit ball. Ballard reliever Dan Horan picked up the win, upping his record to 1-2. Oakland Scanlan absorbed the loss. The loss drops Twinsburg to 8-6.
Pedro Quezada had the most critical at-bat for Ballard. With no one in the top of the ninth inning, Quezada hit a 2-2 fastball from Oakland Scanlan for a run-scoring single. It put Ballard in front, 3-2.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Quezada told reporters after the game.
