Otters Get Win, Hope to Turn Around Slow Start
|
Northwest Territory got a terrific performance from pitcher Justin Clapham, but it wasn't enough to beat the Tulsa Otters. Tulsa won the Beaver Town contest, 5-1. Clapham was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball. The winner was Yan van der Meijden, who threw 100 pitches over 6.1 innings. The right-hander was charged with 1 run on 6 hits. The save was credited to Larry Ramírez, his 1st.
The result might have been different for Tulsa, had it not been for Albert Porter. The first baseman produced a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Otters ahead, 2-1. For the game, Porter had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Northwest Territory manager Tom Carlson.
Tulsa, now 2-4, is off to a slow start.
