Tulsa got a terrific performance from pitcher Manuel Ruíz, but it wasn't enough to beat the Franklin Fire. Franklin won the Lawmen Ballpark contest, 2-1. Ruíz was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball. Franklin reliever Freddy Howe was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Clinton McIntosh took the loss for Tulsa. The Fire, now 3-0, have played some good baseball in the early going.
Nikolai Volkoff had a critical at-bat with no one out in the bottom of the 14th. The Franklin first baseman came through with a run-scoring single to put Franklin in front, 2-1.
In postgame remarks, Volkoff simply said: "Here's to a great win!"
