Shockers Jolt Interns with Late Rally
|
The Surprise Shockers dealt the Capital Hill Interns a 6-2 loss at ïAbbots Ballpark. Will Hamilton was the star on offense. He went 1-3 with a double and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Surprise reliever Henry Burge picked up the win to move to 1-1. Aki Kiridoshi suffered the loss. At 27-36, the Shockers are currently 7th in the Premier R.
The game was at a stalemate until first baseman Braxton Cottongame came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Capital Hill pitcher Aki Kiridoshi, he hit a first pitch curveball for a run-scoring double. It was a game-changer, putting Surprise on top, 3-2.
"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Cottongame.
