Snowpeople Get Road Win, 4-1
|
The Snowpeople faced a stiff challenge from Valley View pitcher Ronald Hall, but persevered to claim a win at Hillandale Grounds. The final score was 4-1. Hall went 8 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Ellesmere Island reliever Kenzaburo Hakui picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Ronald Hall took the loss. Zi-cheng Yang picked up the save for Ellesmere Island, his 5th of the year.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the sixth, with the game tied, Thom Scribbner was at the plate when Ellesmere Island scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Snowpeople to go in front, 2-1.
"I thought we played a nice game," Scribbner told the Ellesmere Island News. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
With the win, the Snowpeople have a record of 27-36.
