The Long Island Ducks relied on the hitting of center fielder Hisashi Koumura to stop the Crowley Cajuns, 6-3. For the game, Koumura was 3-4 with a double and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Long Island leads the Premier R by 9 games.
Koumura had a game-changing double in the bottom of the seventh. On a first pitch fastball from Jesús García, he banged a bases-clearing double to right-center, giving the Ducks a 5-2 lead. It was the 11th double of the year for Koumura.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Koumura told reporters after the game.
