Cajuns Need Extras to Top Ducks
|
The Crowley Cajuns and Long Island Ducks put on quite a show at Ducks Park.
Crowley overcame a superlative game from Joop Els to beat Long Island, 5-1. The Long Island pitcher took player of the game honors in a losing cause. He threw 8 innings of 4-hit ball. Crowley is third in the Premier R with a record of 32-20.
Crowley used the timely hitting of Reggie Gommers to capture the win. The center fielder socked a run-scoring double in the top of the 11th inning to put the Cajuns ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was an important one.
"Exciting game to play in," said Gommers. "Getting the win makes it even better."
