Snowpeople, Cani Pin Bad Loss on Octopi
|
The Ellesmere Island Snowpeople beat the Ogallala Octopi, 11-1, at Nebraska Aquarium. Tuputahi Cani was recognized as player of the game for his performance. He was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 4 runs and drove in 3. The 18-year old right fielder was a menace to Ogallala all day. Kenzaburo Hakui earned the save for Ellesmere Island, his 1st. Ellesmere Island bumps their record to 19-30 with the win.
Cani contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Ellesmere Island in the top of the second. With his team trailing 1-0, Cani took a forkball from John Lee and stroked the home run to left. His 2nd home run of the season allowed the Snowpeople to leap in front, 3-1.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Cani.
